What we do
It’s the Halex team that sets us apart
Chris Burt - Principal
Chris is a principal of Halex Consulting and a co-founder of the Risk Coalition. He focuses on working with boards and executive management, and has over 25 years’ experience delivering governance, risk management and assurance consultancy to leading UK and European businesses. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and holds a degree in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham and a masters in secure e-commerce from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG where he specialised in technology risk and information security (cyber) consulting, later extending his expertise into enterprise risk management and internal audit consulting with Deloitte.
Chris set up Halex Consulting after working for several years with a highly regarded London-based boutique governance consultancy, first as a senior associate and then as a partner. In this time, he specialised in performing board and committee evaluations (including S166 work), and reviews of risk management and internal audit effectiveness.
Chris is recognised as a leading thinker on risk management and assurance matters, providing clients with objective, innovative and pragmatic advice and guidance to help them achieve their goals. It was during a recent risk transformation engagement with a major financial services client that Chris spotted the need for good quality, principles-based guidance for board risk committees and second line risk functions. As a result, Chris instigated, chaired and is principal author of the Risk Coalition's 'Raising the Bar - principles-based guidance for board risk committees and risk functions in the UK financial services sector' published December 2019.
